  • 🇮🇳India apurvsonawane

    Hello @Aditya4478 @nick_vh
My name is Apurv Sonawane, and I am currently a third-year undergrad student at the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, India. I am delighted to see the CSS Modernization Initiative at Drupal for GSOC students. I believe this will greatly benefit those who are part of the Drupal community through improved performance, easier maintenance, and enhanced user experience.
Advanced CSS techniques can be a key factor in the CSS Modernization Initiative at Drupal. The CSS Modernization Initiative is an effort to modernize the CSS architecture in Drupal core, with the goal of improving performance, reducing maintenance overhead, and making it easier for developers to create responsive and accessible designs.
Also, Refactoring the Claro accordion stylesheet as part of Drupal's CSS Modernization Initiative can help to improve the maintainability and performance of the theme, as well as provide a better user experience for Drupal administrators.
Advanced CSS methods that can support this project and help refactor the Claro accordion stylesheet are:
CSS Grid: It can help to simplify the CSS codebase and make it easier to maintain.
Flexbox: It can be used in conjunction with CSS Grid to create even more advanced layouts.
CSS Variables: This can help to reduce repetition and make the CSS codebase more maintainable.
Custom Properties: This can be particularly useful for creating reusable components that can be customized with different values.
Media Queries: It can help to create responsive designs that work well on a wide range of devices.
Simplify the CSS: The current Claro accordion stylesheet includes many complex and nested selectors that can be difficult to read and maintain. Simplifying the CSS by reducing the number of nested selectors and avoiding overly-specific selectors can help to make the code more maintainable.
Reduce the number of images: The current Claro accordion uses many images for the icons and buttons, which can increase the page load time and make the interface less accessible for users with slow internet connections or disabilities. Using CSS-based icons and buttons can help to reduce the number of images and improve the performance and accessibility of the accordion.

By leveraging these and other advanced CSS techniques, the CSS Modernization Initiative at Drupal can help to create a more modern and maintainable CSS architecture.
As a beginner in the open source field, I am fully aware that this project may necessitate some mentoring and guidance, but I am eager to put in the effort and time required to learn and contribute to the project. I am eager to gain knowledge that will enable me to contribute significantly to the project's success. I've also gone through the codebase, run it locally, and gotten to know it.
I've pretty good experience with front-end technologies. I've two years of experience working on the front-end part and have also done a front-end internship at a budding startup. My skill set includes HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MongoDB, React.js, Node.js, Express .js, Firebase, React Native, C++, and Python.

    1. CSS Grid: It can help to simplify the CSS codebase and make it easier to maintain.
    2. Flexbox: It can be used in conjunction with CSS Grid to create even more advanced layouts.
    3. CSS Variables: This can help to reduce repetition and make the CSS codebase more maintainable.
    4. Custom Properties: This can be particularly useful for creating reusable components that can be customized with different values.
    5. Media Queries: It can help to create responsive designs that work well on a wide range of devices.
    6. Simplify the CSS: The current Claro accordion stylesheet includes many complex and nested selectors that can be difficult to read and maintain. Simplifying the CSS by reducing the number of nested selectors and avoiding overly-specific selectors can help to make the code more maintainable.
