force auto sync of address lat Lon

Feeds set up and importing correctly BUT despite correctly adding address in correctly and auto sync turned on linking address field to geolocation, you have to manually go into each records > edit > geolocation > street address > add a space or a period after the address and tab to the next address field and only then will the lat Lon be generated and the map populated. As I have 2000 nodes to import I am hoping there is a way around this to auto populate

My GPS field (Geofield field) is set to 'Prepopulate by geocoding an existing field' (for a better UI) and 'Prepopulate by geocoding an existing field' option references my 'Address' field.
Thus, coordinates are not calculated on import.
Temporarily setting the GPS field to 'Geocode from an existing field' before import makes the coordinates being calculated.
Once import's complete, I switch back to 'Geocode from an existing field'.
