Add a project logo

Problem/Motivation

The Project Browser project displays a project logo for each module/project in a set of cards. This is a major initiative coming in Drupal 10 to make it easier for site builders to find and install modules.
Guidelines have been published for supporting Project Browser:

Steps to reproduce

Proposed resolution

I have designed a logo I'm suggesting for Typogrify. Feel free to use it if you think appropriate. I have uploaded the PNG image and the SVG vector image created in Inkscape (I've appended .txt to the filename as .svg is not an allowed extension).

    @lostcarpark:

Thanks for opening this issue. The logo looks great!

    I have a few concerns:

    1. The default branch for this module is 7.x-1.x, and I am responsible for the 8.x-1.x branch. I should check with the other maintainers before adding a file to the 7.x-1.x branch.
    2. The PNG is almost 24 KB, and the recommendation is to stay under 10KB.
    3. The logo suggests font design, and this module is more about ligatures.

Given the last point, I want to give you a chance to use this logo on another module, such as https://www.drupal.org/project/fontyourface → . If you still want it to represent this module, then I will be happy to add it.

When I exported the file, I image as a PNG, I forgot to check the resolution, and accidentally created a much larger image than the recommended 512x512. I have attached a version at the correct resolution, and it fits in the recommended file size more easily.

I see your point about the purpose of the module, so maybe I'll have a rethink, and see if I can come up with something more suitable, and maybe there is a more suitable module for this particular logo.

    I have two alternative ideas.

The first uses opening and closing typographic quotes:

The second shows a typical ligiature. I've chosen "ffi".

These images were created by me, in Inkscape, using the open source font, "Free serif".

This last one is the best that, to me, represents a ligature, so I'll throw my hat in for that one. :)

The module does quotation marks as well as ligatures, so both of the suggestions in #4 could work.

I think the quotation marks suggest ... quotations. That logo might work for the Bartlett's module, if there is such a thing. (Back in the days of paper reference books, Bartlett's Familiar Quotations was a familiar standard, at least in the English-speaking world.)

I installed the project_browser module locally and used my browser tools to create this little mockup. I think it helps to see the logos in context.

    Nice mock-up of the logos!

I like the idea of the quotation marks for a quotation based module (I don't know if one exists that is currently maintained).

However, I'm very happy for you ant the other maintainers to choose any - or none, if you prefer.

I suspect the maintainers of the D7 branch will not care. I used their contact forms to ask for confirmation, and one already replied.

Unless one of the other maintainers objects, I will use one of the logos. I am leaning towards the ligature.

The mockup shows that the original logo is less striking when scaled down. It might be a good idea to darken the blue, lighten the red, and/or thicken the red circles. I will not be offended if you choose not to follow design suggestions from a back-end developer. ;)

I contacted the other maintainers. One replied, and does not object to changing the default branch. I will go ahead and do that. I am adding the ligature image as logo.png and marking this issue as fixed.

Thanks for helping with this module!
