I don't think there are any needed steps aside from ensuring
search: version: 8was added to pantheon.yml file after upgrading the module.
The v3 to v8 upgrade process is not documented clearly in either the README.md file or the project page. This causes problems for people who run "composer upgrade" and discover they have a new version installed that isn't working anymore.
