Not cooperating with the Advanced Link Attributes module

Problem/Motivation

Recently, I had a requirement to have extra attributes attached to core Link fields and I have found that the Advanced Link Attributes → does a very nice job for me.

However, when I try to use Field Defaults as I do normally to set default values for certain fields, the Advanced Link Attributes related settings do not seem to be taken into account and applied as default values.

I have tried to illustrate this in the Form display screenshot below, where I have set up the various 'normal' fields' default values and attempted to do the same for the Advanced Link Attributes settings but without success...

I am not sure whether this a problem with this module or with Advanced Link Attributes so I have posted in both issue queues for now to gauge reactions
