I want to import an archive, that means the whole content. Ich exported the contents from my production site and want to have it on a new test site. So I upload the exported archive, which takes some seconds. When the upload is finished nothing happens. The tab "Synchronize" shows no new content. Neither the log of the module nor Drupal's log show any errors or other messages. So, what is to do after the upload?

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
Tried the case scenario you described and the export from one environment, and the import into another environment works.
I'm closing this issue.

Note, it will be helpful to know:
If you set the content/sync folder on setttings.php
Do you see any of the content? not on the sync screen but on the Drupal content view?
