Translate journey: thinking about the UI/UX to translate string

Created on 23 September 2022, about 2 years ago
Updated 2 November 2023, about 1 year ago

Problem/Motivation

Some of the tools available to users, such as the pencil icons, are not very telling.
There is also the problem of the save button at the bottom of the page.
It should also be pointed out that translations are not automatically saved either.

Steps to reproduce

Reflect together,
Can be made wireframe if needed
Integrate changes in css and settings if needed

  • First commit to issue fork.

I've created a fork on this issue to set up the child theme so that I can start working on the visuals.
The theme is well advanced but I haven't yet had a chance to make a clean readme, I'm waiting to install it with colleagues on gitpod and locally so that I can make the 2 versions of the readme.
That will be my next task before starting on the css itself

  • We could display a banner in a fixed position at the bottom of the screen, which would appear when the user starts encoding a translation. In addition to this, we would need a confirmation request when the user wishes to change page, but has not saved their translations (modal).
