The current module state does not support Drupal 8 anymore because of the previously different method stub of the Event class ( https://www.drupal.org/node/3159012 → ).
1. Setup Drupal 8.9.18 installation
2. Install the module
3. Try changing the email address of a user
Drupal 8 compatibility should be removed. I am creating this issue to leave a patch which works with Drupal 8.9.18.
You could remove the Drupal 8 compatibility.
