Drupal 7 is not yet end of life. So if anyone wants to support it, they should volunteer.
Also, I don't think it was right to close every 7.x issue, simply because you don't want to support that branch. If something is an issue, the 4000+ Drupal 7 users of this project need to know what issues exist, and whether they are active or not. Please re-open the 7.x issues that have not been fixed that were closed a couple days prior.
Similarly, we need to have the ability to continue to create patches for issues we experience so we can include them in our projects ourselves and help others. Just because there's no active maintainer doesn't mean the community work/support on 7.x cannot continue.
And if this branch was removed for security reasons, users of 7.x have a right to know that as well.

Hello, are you still looking for people to support the 7.x branch? I'm still maintaining a few legacy Drupal 7 sites and we are using this module in most of these sites. I can help on this if needed.
I don't have any D7 anymore, so I'm not going to follow this module or its issues anymore.
