This is committed in the lasted snapshot of 2.0-x-dev.

As for cleaning up any mess that's left for existing sites, there is no provisioning for this. One can clean up this manually using phpMyAdmin or some similar tool. If you want some code to clean up, create a new feature request, provide MR to implement the feature, and get it to RTBC.
