Any chances, that we get a 2.0.0-beta1 version? If none of the maintainer has time for this module, is there a chance to get a co-maintainership?
In the last few months there were two bug fixes and a drupal 9 / simplenews 3 compatiblity patch merged into 2.0.x-dev:
I think, with these three issues resolved, the 2.0.x branch is ready for a new version, e.g. 2.0.0-beta1
Tag a new version 2.0.0-beta1 from 2.0.x-dev branch.
