Maybe https://www.drupal.org/project/datetime_extras → would be a good candidate?
Add a Duration Only Formatter for Daterange field.
Where one can select weeks, days, most importantly hours, minutes.
And the output would be in decimals of the selected time span.
e.g 3.5
