Automatically closed - issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.
When using other fields such as color field within a field group, the css styles that apply to the gear button are to broad and override styles for the fields within.
Create field groups settings widget.
Add a color field to the group.
The gear will show up over each color button.
Make CSS more precise. field_group_settings > settings.css
