So occasionally we add more domains to our website and the first few weeks a new domain exists we keep it disabled so that the content editors can create all the pages etc. If the DNS is already set and visitors go to the website, they are then redirected to the default domain. This might be useful for some but our client asked of we could just show a maintenance page instead. Therefore hereby a small patch that redirects anonymous users to a maintenance.html file that we have in our docroot folder for inactive domains. I guess this solution is not for everybody but if you think its useful and wanna give some input on how this might be solved in a more neat and dynamic way, please do.
