Deprecated preg_match using PHP 8.1

Using Drupal 9.3.6 and GoogleAnalytics 8.x-3.1

I then upgraded from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8.1

Now I get preg_match deprecation errors on install & module files.

The duplicate issue is pointing to version 4.x but this is version 3.x. Would the patch for 4.x work on 3.x?
