So seems as though the js library is abandoned. No release in 4 years.
An option we could do is use some kind of feature flag (learned a trick today) and fork the js and css locally. Then we could apply the video support to that.

Got it started.
Haven't applied fix to the internal library yet
Formatter plugin will need some work too or a new one will be needed.

Actually digging into more I'm no longer a fan of my idea. The formatter updates seems like it would be a pain for a library that doesn't get updates.
And doing some research there are several modules already out there that do video popups
