I'm Kai Yee, the front end developer for the Dept of Commerce. We are facing the same issues as you in that Commerce is on this USWDS theme but are concerned about the update to version 3. Can you keep us up to date with your discoveries for USWDS Base or even Gesso USWDS, please?

So since classy was removed in D10 this one will require a contrib theme also.
Uswds base has gotten better about keeping up but the versioning is a little off. Doesn’t help USWDS hasn’t done minor release and keeps jumping. But as you mentioned it just templates so it made it easier for us to sub theme off.
Will have to take a look at gesso though and see what’s going on there. Looks very interesting!
