I'm using this module to create nodes of content type X via webform submissions.
For various reasons, I need these new nodes to have a flag set on them automatically. So far, I've found two approaches to automatic flag setting:
1- Write a module to do it

I'm hoping to avoid either of those and just set it in the webform submission via a token or something. Is that possible?

Yes sure, it is possible! In configuration page for mapping "content type X via webform submissions", you can put default values when you use custom mapping for each field.
