Caret for block with links

I'm using the block with links so that it's possible to view all posts from a year or a month in the view results, and I had the idea to check how it would look if carets were used.

so I looked into the code, and placed the carets in the function "with links", but oh my, it seems to be much more complicated than that, with all the checks for vba-caret styles, etc.
it seems that the presence or not of a style in an array decides of what happens.
sometimes I do regret the good old spaghetti code, I could not figure out what to change to obtain the carets in my block with links.

then I tried to add links to the block style without links but ran into all sorts of route issues.

is it possible to have both at the same time? that a click on a year or month not only expands the child items in the block, but also filters results in the view panel?
