Using bootstrap_barrio.layouts.yml with the Layout Paragraphs module

I am using the https://www.drupal.org/project/layout_paragraphs β†’ module together with this theme to enable a site editor to use 2/3 columns on the node edit screen. In the frontend everything is working ok but at node/edit things are not showing up correctly compared to, for instance, the 2 columns layout provided by the core Layout Discovery module. See screenshots attached to see what I mean.

With the core layout the 2 columns show side-by-side but with barrio the 2 columns are shown stacked.
This is obviously because the css for col-sm-6 is not applied for barrio from bootstrap in the admin section (the layout discovery module provides css within its module (web/core/modules/layout_discovery/layouts/twocol/twocol.css).

I am unsure how to fix this and any suggestions are much appreciated.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Install drupal 9.2.8
  • Install bootstrap_barrio
  • Install layout_paragraphs
  • Add paragraph type (admin/structure/paragraphs_type/add), let's call it "Layout" and enable 'Layout Paragraphs' under 'Behaviour'. Select '2 Columns Equal' under 'Barrio Columns' AND select 'Two column' under 'Columns:2'
  • On the Basic Page content type (admin/structure/types/manage/page/fields/add-field) add a paragraph field (of type Entity reference revisions). Let's call it 'Content'
  • Now set the widget for this field at form display to 'Layout Paragraphs' (admin/structure/types/manage/page/form-display)
  • Create a basic page (node/add/page) and add one barrio 2 columns layout (2 Colums Equal) and one core layout (2 column)
