There are now 3 dunning levels before cancellation in the latest version of this module. I hope that helps.
A general error in src/Plugin/AdvancedQueue/JobType/RecurringOrderClose.php will cancel the subscription and mark the order as failed on the first attempt. This is annoying for the user since they are never given a chance to update their payment method via dunning like users with declined transactions.
Allow users to update their payment method and keep their subscription.
