Setting a parent for a taxonomy term in the Relations dropdown does not scale - use autocomplete instead of multiselect

Hello,

I have a location taxonomy with several thousands of terms (continent - country - city). When trying to edit parents the browser freezes unfortunately, as the Relations dropdown uses a multi select field instead of an autocomplete field.

Sry just seeing the responses :) Issue outstanding in latest Drupal 10.x

Use case: Location taxonomy with Contintents -> Countries - >cities. I imported a geonames taxonomy into my Drupal site with over 300k terms. My Drupal site is pretty much dead on several screens, such as taxonomy relations edit...
I noticed I cannot even change the Relations field on the "Manage Form Display" screen.. Sad.
