So just based on that summary not sure I'm able to replicate it.
When I place facets as blocks they appear fine.
Note also 3.0.x is now supporting views integration.
When I add a new facet to the search api page I have already built I get this message where the facet should be.
Had no issues setting up facets in the past and i've spent most of today adding a new facet, which usually takes 20 minutes.
