SVG image not being accepted in the Media Library Image type

Problem/Motivation

After updating to the latest Drupal 8 Core version I noticed that I can no longer upload SVG images through the media library image type, even though I have added SVG as an accepted file type. When I go to add media images, I only see the standard accepted file types and SVG is not part of the list, this used to work. I am curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to the Media type image.
  2. Edit the image field.
  3. Add svg as a allowed format and save.
  4. Go to add media content
  5. Select image, and try and upload a SVG image. You will notices that SVG is not in the list of allowed formats

Proposed resolution

If this is a bug/issue, if possible to fix the media library image to accept SVG again. Another potential solution is to use the file media type which looks like it does currently accept SVG images. This could be a temporary solution.
