Problem/Motivation

Important stats:

BLT: 11.4.1
DrupalVM: 4.9.2
Search API Solr: 4.1.8
Search API: 1.18

Locally, to mirror the remote solr environment, we are using Solr 4.5.1. We are using this script to configure solr which is configured as a post_provision_script in our config.yml file.

After creating a solr server and connecting to the default collection1 solr core, we are prompted to download new config, e.g. via config.zip or drush solr-gsc. After adding the new config to /var/solr/collection1/conf/ and restarting solr service, we are prompted with the following error:

I have reviewed other issues in the search api solr queue and found a similar issue → however update solrcore.properties to include or exclude solr.install.dir does not resolve the issue.

Steps to reproduce

Configure solr 4.5.1 and ensure default collection1 core exists
Create a new solr server, referencing collection1 core. Save.
Observe error message that new config needs to be installed.
Download config.zip and move to /var/solr/collection1/conf/
Ensure permissions are correct (solr is owner of conf dir) and restart solr
Observe errors that the core connection was not successful.
