Error: Unsupported operand types in Drupal\views\Plugin\views\field\FieldPluginBase->advancedRender()

Problem/Motivation

The following error happens when trying to access the Messages administration view:
Error: Unsupported operand types in Drupal\views\Plugin\views\field\FieldPluginBase->advancedRender()

Steps to reproduce

Enable the Message administration view implemented by Message module (view name: message) and try to access the view page.

As soon as the view is saved, Message UI adds a new Context Links field, and that seems to be broken. This is visible when editing the view again.
