How to automatically link urls

As a content author, I add many footnotes with urls. Adding an <a> tag around all of them is cumbersome. I would like a way for urls to be automatically linked, the way they can be in rich text configurations.

Is there a way to do this?

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.

  • In my case, I only had to move the "Footnotes filter" to be placed before the enabled "Convert URLs into links" filter at admin/config/content/formats/manage/full_html

This is fixed in 4x with https://www.drupal.org/project/footnotes/issues/3405986 ✨ Switch to Modal window to allow more editor control Fixed - ie, you can use the wysiwyg toolbar and not have to write out html.
