Add Compatibility info Section on Module and Theme Page to show compatibility of module with different versions of PHP, Drush, Composer etc.

Created on 13 July 2020, almost 5 years ago
Updated 22 April 2025, 3 days ago

Problem/Motivation
Currently Drupal.org project page for module / theme /distribution does not have option to highlight if project is compatible with particular version of Drush, Composer, PHP etc.

Mostly it's helpful when PHP version compatibility comes into picture.

Proposed resolution
Drupal.org Page should have some section to highlight compatibility against different versions of Drush / PHP / Composer etc.

Remaining tasks

User interface changes
It could be considered under Drupal.org redesign initiative.

API changes
Currently only Feed which provides modules current info is:
https://updates.drupal.org/release-history/pathologic/current

It will be good idea if this info feed has compatibility info for Drush, Composer, PHP versions etc.

Data model changes
Not sure

This would be implemented as something very Drupal.org-specific, there isn’t a great way to make this sort of thing generic.

There are also other dependencies which a project might have. Instead of making a wall of dependencies which are tedious to think through, I think its best to just use composer, it will always have the most accurate view of the dependencies and your site.

I was thinking along the same line as @drumm when I moved this but didn't comment. This is looking like a won't fix.

Does anyone else support this idea?
