When adding a Convert (Advanced) effect to any image styles - specified to only transform PNG files to JPG - the conversion fails. I am also using the ImageAPI WebP pipeline ( https://www.drupal.org/project/imageapi_optimize_webp → ) so image files also result in double extentions.
For example: /sites/files/images/image.png.webp
