I'm going to close this issue out, because this works natively in CKEditor 5 now, you type in an email address, and it'll add the
mailto:protocol for you automatically.
Clients often ask me why the links to email address don't open their outlook...
Here is a proposal of a js widget to help users to prepend "mailto:" to an email address when they fill in the href input.
