If anyone prepares a MR here and confirms it works, I'd be willing to merge this.
The Default sort order does not work because the code continually resets the aaSorting to an empty array as it loops over each field, so only the last column could be default sorted.
I modified the module to start with an empty array, and push the default sort orders into that empty array.
