PDF view mode and Display Suite layout

Working on Drupal 8.6.1 with Entity Print 8.2.1, Display Suite 8.3.1 and Dompdf.

I am just trying to have a two columns layout PDF.
I have activated the PDF view mode (Manage display).
I have chosen a two columns layout provided by Display Suite (same error with the two columns provided by core).
I have dispatched my fields within each region built by the layout.
When I download the PDF (link on a node), the view mode switches to Default instead of PDF and I lose the two columns (I am not even quite sure this is Default view mode, some fields are missing...)
Have I missed something here?

Thanks.

EDIT 17-11-20
Still facing this issue with Drupal 8.9.8, Entity Print 8.2.2
Even if I try to add CSS through specific style sheet (print_style.css for example), adding a flexbox to get my two columns does not work. I get this error :

Error generating document: Failed to generate PDF: 'justify_content' is not a recognized CSS property.

Note that everything is in perfect place if I look at /debug (nice two columns with justify-content : space-around without any problem).
I just can not get two columns on a PDF page??
Any help here?
