Drupal 7 is no more supported and Drupal 7 branches on projects had been automatically marked as unsupported and not available to download anymore.
So closing the issue.
When a global password is set for a content type, users must enter the password on every node of that type that they wish to access instead of only entering the password once.
It looks like this feature was supposed to be covered in #1204370: Entered global password doesn't persist across nodes → but must have been overlooked.
