Use node view mode instead of view mode configured on views

Hi,

I have some trouble with the "Display Suite Switch View Mode" submodule. I'm not sure if I'm facing a bug / lacking feature or I'm doing something wrong.

I have the following situation:

I have a node content type "Teaser". In DS there are several view variants for this type (Standard, Variant A, Variant B, etc.). Additionally I created a view which renders teasers. The output format on the view is set to "Display Suite: Content | Standard".
What I want to achieve is that the editors can create new teasers, set the view variant on the node to something different than Standard and afterwards the teaser is rendered in the view using this view mode. Unfortunately this isn't happening at the moment.
So the questions are: Is my use case possible? If yes, did I do something wrong or do I have to do something like overwriting the view mode via hook_ds_views_row_render_entity()?

Many thanks in advance for your help!
