In able the to save the pdf based on the pdf_using_mpdf_pdf_save_option
Mpdf 7 version is required with PHP7 (https://github.com/mpdf/mpdf/releases/tag/v7.0.0).
New version uses composer to install the library and has namespaces, code structure cleanup, introduction of PSR compliant file structure and autoloading.
There are changes in the API - mpdf class name is changed to Mpdf , config variables are given in array and other changes as shown in the link.
