Rules module in core

rules should be in core

rules module is very important to site builders. scrap actions in core (/admin/config/system/actions) and replace it with rules. action in core is just like baby Rules.

it is views module and rules module that differenciate between drupal and other CMSes for site builders. we are not programmers and we need "if then" interface to control drupal 8. if views in core is a good idea, so does Rules. 3 biggest things that for me unique about drupal - entity, views and rules.

i believe many site builders are still stuck using Drupal 7 because we are waiting for Rules module to be beta and sadly, after 2 years of drupal 8 release, drupal 8 Rules no where near production ready.

i know, drupal is moving towards "ambitious digital experience" BUT neglecting site builders and enthusiasts is still bad move. i still cant move to drupal 8 because of rules. i dont want to go to Backdrop. I love Drupal. but im stuck. i cant hire programmer every time i wanna do "if then" triggers.

i have high respect for the Drupal Rules Maintainers and understand their problems, i do. still, drupal leaders need to push Rules project into core.

I think the driving factor for this was D8 readiness, but Rules got over that hurdle and now has a release for the latest version of Drupal, and there shouldn't be ongoing issues with this given the updated core release plan.

And since there has been no activity on this in years, I'm going to mark it closed. This is a great and very popular contrib module, let's not mess with what works!
