Use case: in a teaser view mode that's used on a listing page, replace an entity reference field with a view by using a DS block.
The view block display uses a contextual filter. We can apply validation and get access to a URL based context per #2886116-2: Passing a value into a views contextual filter from a block field → . But that won't help here, since the teaser will not be on a node entity page.
What we need instead is the ability to pull the context from the entity the DS field is attached to.
