Set Rel Canonical to parent node for revision pages

Created on 2 November 2017, about 7 years ago

Hi,

I'm currently encountering issues with Revision pages generated by the Diff modules being exposed to Google and outranking the parent page for various search terms.

This could easily be resolved by adding a canonical rel tag on all revision pages that links back to the parent page. This behaviour is precisely how Mediawiki currently handles revision pages.

I'm also using the Metatags module to generate canonical tags and there is no way that I can see to customise them specifically on Revision pages to rel canonical back to the parent page.

An example of this behaviour can be seen here:

Happy to provide more details or information if needed.

Thanks!
