Seems someone made a module for this
At current project we need to replace 1 word but it has different endings + they all can have first uppercase which makes the total count of replacements 2x. We have Excel spreadsheet to map all of the different variations and in the end we need to manually do all of the changes in the UI. Drush support could help which would make it possible to write bash script.
