This is the error I get when choosing 'list' as format for a field on the manage display page:
Drupal\Component\Plugin\Exception\PluginException: Plugin "link" (\Drupal\linkicon\LinkIconItem) must implement interface Drupal\list_formatter\Plugin\ListFormatterListInterface. in Drupal\Component\Plugin\Factory\DefaultFactory::getPluginClass() (line 101 of ...\core\lib\Drupal\Component\Plugin\Factory\DefaultFactory.php).
There's also an ajax error with http 500 result code. The blue/round circle indicating the progress when changing the format to 'list' just keeps on spinning.
