Closing this issue as phenaproxima has confirmed that they'd like to remain as a Drupal core subsystem maintainer for Default Content, Media, Media Library, Recipes.
Unless something changes with regard to the sudden (and, in my view, completely unwarranted) expulsion of @Crell from the Drupal community, I don't think I feel comfortable remaining in MAINTAINERS.txt.
