Any solution to susbscribe to OG content?

Does anyone know if there is a module or recipe on how to handle OG members being notified of OG content updates:
- updates to group node
- creation of og content
- comments on og content
- edits to og content

I found this: [#2205741] which has a very complex set up which i think is out of date as it causes numerous errors plus it requires you to create a new module.

and i found this: ✨ Subscribe OG module Closed: outdated which creates a new OG Subscribe module which sounded like it had potential; but i installed it and it doesn't seem to do anything.
