The current validation error message for Integer fields that have been configured to have an upper and/or lower limit is as follows (example):
Year: the value may be no greater than ...
Even though the meaning conveyed is fairly clear, the wording could be better, for English. As it is it sounds awkward and would not be commonly heard from a native English speaker.
A suggested - edited - error message that follows the standard word order and has a more natural sound to it would be:
Year: the value may not be greater than ...
Closed: won't fix

Thanks for working on this! According to this https://www.drupal.org/about/core/policies/core-change-policies/what-pat... → , we are not allowed to make changes in user-facing strings (or strings in error messages) in this D7 phase, unless these issues are critical/major:
Major/Critical string problem only. (e.g. typo, string is saying completely wrong information);
Therefore I must close this as Won't fix.
