I tried to implement your method. I created a file with your code (changed TEXT_TO_REPLACE with ---). I also added the PHP start and end tag to the file and enabled the module... It does nothing. "---" shows up in the menu.
It would ne nice if there was acheckbox configuration for "Use separator divider between elements" in the Components>>NAVBAR section. If checked, it would put the following element between navbar options:
<li role="separator" class="divider"></li>
Right now, I am doing this with javascript, but it would be nice to not have to rely on that.
