Allow generation of (new) cron keys

Created on 10 May 2008, about 17 years ago
Updated 2 May 2025, about 1 month ago

Having 'fixed' cron keys for each Drupal installation is kind of limitation. If for any reason is required to change the default cron key generated by Drupal, the admin should be able to generate a new one. The patch adds this feature.

See screen shots attached.

EDIT: There's a module for this: Cron key.

  • Security improvements

It makes Drupal less vulnerable to abuse or misuse. Note, this is the preferred tag, though the Security tag has a large body of issues tagged to it. Do NOT publicly disclose security vulnerabilities; contact the security team instead. Anyone (whether security team or not) can apply this tag to security improvements that do not directly present a vulnerability e.g. hardening an API to add filtering to reduce a common mistake in contributed modules.
