Clear empty tokens

Patch still makes sense, I'll prepare a MR to make it easier for the maintainer.

Here we go. @FatherShawn could you perhaps have a look at the RTBC'd issues? For Drupal 7 this module is still very helpful and not obsolete (as for D8+).
