The 7.x-1.x branch is security fixes only and is not adding new features. Closing won't fix.
While processing multiple files, feeds are trying to save content of each file along with progress state. With heavy-weight file this operation may fail, or at least pollute database with useless data.
At this moment feeds module itself doesn't allow better approach, but patch in

allows to use files instead of content in FeedsFetcherResult, which is much more sparing to database. However it's far from being added to module.
Given patch replaces raw data with file path, but it might be better to make it configurable.
