drupal_set_message() message repeated on next page if protocol switched

I have a Commerce Kickstart site using securepages to protect the checkout pages, and a custom form that redirects to the checkout. Under some circumstances, the form page (HTTP) will show a message to the user using drupal_set_message(). However, in that case, when the form is submitted and the redirect to the checkout (HTTPS) occurs, the same message is then repeated on the checkout page.

Conversely, any (new) messages that I display on the checkout pages, are repeated on any HTTP page that the user then navigates to.

Posting this as a support req but if reproducible and not somehow down to my own shoddy coding (always possible), can be upgraded to a Bug Report.

LOL, and what would be the response time on the new one?

No worries chief, I already took the hint about 9 years and 6 months ago. All the best ;)
