Currently the moon phase overlaps are displayed using img overlaps where the image width and height determine how much of their respective moon-half is covered. The width and height are both set to hard value numbers (52px high, and somewhere between 26px and 0 wide).
If you move to using a percent for the image width instead - then that allows CSS to adjust the height without also having to fiddle with the width of the overlay. So for example, a full moon would be 100%, gibbous at 50% or so, and crescents at 25%. It's a small tweak but it would let the widget be used under more varied themes.
