Closing as there was no activity on this issue for years.
If someone still needs it, feel free to re-open and use a fork and MR instead of patch.
It would be helpful to have an "execute PHP" textarea on every entity Devel tab, with the entity pre-loaded into the scope. That way, you can visit node/123/devel, and already $node is a variable you can use on that page, without having to type $node = node_load(123).
What do you think?
